The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that it has received enough petitions to meet the cap for the additional 19,000 H-2B visas allocated for returning workers for the early second half of fiscal year (FY) 2025. These visas, with start dates ranging from April 1 to May 14, 2025, were made available under the H-2B supplemental cap temporary final rule (FY 2025 TFR).

According to the USCIS, April 18, 2025, marked the final date for accepting petitions requesting supplemental H-2B visas under the FY 2025 early second half returning worker allocation. This allocation is part of a broader effort to address the needs of US employers who require temporary non-agricultural workers.

The H-2B visa program allows US employers to bring foreign nationals into the country to fill temporary non-agricultural jobs. The supplemental cap aims to provide additional visas for returning workers who have previously been granted H-2B status, recognizing their familiarity with the US labor market and employers’ needs.
